The Nero String Quartet
The Nero String Quartet

The Midlands has alway been a hotbed of musical talent, think Black Sabbath, Slade and even the ‘newly reappraised as cool’ Duran Duran, so it’s no surprise that the live wedding band and act circuit in the midlands would be pretty special:

The Nero String Quartet (above) consists of four professional musicians who have trained at top UK conservatories. In 2003 they won first prize in The Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music competition and were also awarded The Derek Young Memorial Award. They have performed for music clubs across the country as well as performing in The United States, France, Spain, Italy and the Middle East. In 2007 they received The Elgar Award. They are one of the most sought after quartets in the UK and have extensive experience of playing at weddings and functions. They also work with professional orchestras (BBC, WNO, ESO) and have performed on luxury cruise ships including P&O, Fred Olsen and Cunard. In addition to their classical work, members of the quartet have also performed on TV, Film and Pop recordings, most recently performing on GMTV and Don’t Tell the Bride.

Hard to Handle
Hard to Handle

Hard to Handle (right) are one of the most sought after and in demand function bands in the UK today. With a superb mixture of pop, rock and soul, Hard to Handle’s wide ranging repertoire is delivered with stunning vocals and breathtaking musicianship designed to get you on the dance floor and keep you there until the last song! Hard to Handle’s professional musicians have performed in prestigious venues throughout the UK, Europe, Australasia, the Far East, Russia, Canada and the USA. Their many satisfied clients agree – it’s the choice of music that counts. 1960s classics, 1970’s disco, 1980’s pop heaven and hits from the 1990’s and noughty’s are all in the mix in this dynamic professionally produced show. Hard to Handle’s mix of music will suit all tastes! Not only are the band consummate entertainers, they are also thoroughly professional and will liaise with both yourself and the venue in order to ensure that all logistical and planning aspects of the night are taken care of well in advance.

Celtic Clan is the Irish band that doesn’t just do Irish! They’re perfect for everything from weddings through to corporates, garden parties and more – anywhere you need an atmospheric blend of music designed to get people mingling, dancing and having fun. Of course, they’ve the capability to do full Irish nights (they played Cheltenham Races on St Patrick’s day), but for mixed party nights too, they’re perfect, as their blend of music mixes everything from jigs and reels through to Irish/Celtic pop (like Dexy’s Midnight Runners (Come on Eileen)’ The Proclaimers (500 Miles), The Corrs’ So Young; Fairytale of New York etc), plus current and vintage pop (Daydream Believer through to Adele), and even a spot of Ceilidh with a caller! The band is hugely popular, and has cornered the market in mixed Irish/English weddings, as well as the above-mentioned functions.

Palmarosa Strings is a cello and guitar duo. They specialise in playing for weddings but they are also available for any special occasions and corporate events. They play a wide variety of music and musical styles including classical, light, jazz, latin and pop but if there is something in particular you would like them to play that isn’t on on their repertoire list they can easily arrange this for you. Their set lists will be tailor made for your wedding and you can choose music for your ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast or you can leave it to them to play a selection of music in the styles of your choice. They have both trained as classical musicians at leading conservatoires including Royal College of Music, London and have a great deal of experience in performing.
